In December 2012 our family traveled to the continent of Africa for the first time. While there, one of the countries we went to was Zambia. We stayed in a tented camp and went on safari, it was magical. But more life-changing than that was the trip to the village of Sinde. We were delighted to meet the villagers and the village elder, and see how people, so far away from us, live so differently. It was eye-opening to learn that there was no source for clean, running water, a life-giving necessity we take for granted in the United States.

Upon returning home, we decided to ask the folks who arranged our village visit how we could help to bring water to the village of Sinde. They were more than happy to direct us to a wonderful, nonprofit in Zambia, Children in the Wilderness (CITW).

It took over a year, and CITW leading the charge, but by February 2014 a brand new solar-powered well stood in the village bringing clean water to the residents!

In November 2018 we decided to create the nonprofit, Well Deserved, and raise funds, full-time, and build as many wells in Zambia as possible.
