Well Deserved is a 501(c)(3), dedicated to the health, education, and well-being of girls and women. In Africa, we work with a nonprofit and the current infrastructure to build wells in underserved villages in Zambia/Zimbabwe.

The wells (which are built using local labor and solar panels) impact the lives of girls and women the most, as it’s the female children or their mothers, who are sent to collect the water, a 10k walk! For the girls, by the time they return, they are either too tired for homework, have missed school completely, or the trek was fraught with wild animals or unsavory characters and for the moms they have spent half their day collecting water.

The wells ensure that the villages have access to clean drinking water, nutrition, and sanitation. They are also responsible for saving the livestock, a source of currency and food, because they can now be washed clean of dangerous/fatal ticks and parasites.

These wells are crucial! They keep the girls safe and educated giving them the tools for a productive, employable future. As well as instrumental in freeing up the women who are then able to start and run small businesses, enabling them to contribute income to the family. The businesses range from making and selling baskets and mats (by drying out plastic bags that litter the area) to raising and selling goats.

This access to clean water is creating bright, productive futures for the villagers thus improving the global economy and the world!!
